This Present Moment

". . . we are alive in the present moment, the only moment there is for us to be alive.

Every breath we take, every step we make, can be filled with peace, joy and serenity.

We need only to be awake, alive in the present moment."

Thich Nhat Hanh

I just got back from California on the 19th of May. I'm suffering from a bit of culture shock. Virginia seems almost tropical compared to California. Too many leaves.

For reasons that don't bear going into, I have been thinking about the "Path of Least Resistance" and how it always goes down-hill, following the pull of gravity. Then the path ends where it always ends - at the bottom and we must begin the painful work of hauling ourselves up, step by step, to level ground again. Of course, if we're in denial, we expect to be airlifted out. Every morning, we should rise, put out hands together and say to ourselves "Resist gravity."

I really loved the five days with all of you. What a spectacular group. Steve, thank you for creating a blog that I can actually get on to. I hope all of you join in the conversation.
